Frequently Asked Questions about adding a Google Map to your website

How do I add a Google Map of a location to my website?

  1. Enter a location, adress or business name.
  2. Set width in % or px (for instance 650px or 90%) and height in pixels (for instance 800). Or use the default settings.
  3. If you wish to zoom in on the location, drag the zoom level to the right for a higher value and see the map change below.
  4. Once you are happy with how the sample map displays the location, simply copy the embed code. You do this by pushing the button Copy.
  5. Now go to your website and paste the generated embed code where you want it to show up. If you use WordPress paste it into the block named Custom HTML. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Why should you embed a Google Map on your website?

Embedding a Google Maps location on your business website is a smart move because it helps customers find you easily and adds credibility. Here are the top reasons why you should do it:

  • Improves customer convenience since customers can see your exact location without leaving your site. They can get directions instantly with one click.
  • Boosts Local Search Visibility
  • Looks Professional: A map makes your site more trustworthy by proving your business has a real location.
  • Encourages Walk-Ins: People searching for a nearby business are more likely to visit if they see a map.

How do I change Width to pixels instead of % ?

It’s easy – you can for instance add 400px. The output will then be 400 pixels wide.

How do I change the height to % instead of pixels?

For most usecases this is not needed. To keep this code generator simple it is not included. But if you still want to give it a try, edit the generated embed code manually from height=400 to let’s say height=50%.

Is embedding Google Maps free?

Yes, the code that we generate for you here is completely free to use. But if you are instead using the Google Maps API (for custom styling, multiple markers, or advanced features) this may require billing after exceeding free usage limits.

How do I embed Google Maps with multiple locations?

This method does not support multiple markers within the same map. You need the Google Maps JavaScript API to display multiple locations.

Why is my embedded Google Map not showing?

It is possibly due to browser security restrictions or ad blockers interfering.

You should place the embed code after the <body> tag of your website.

Another possibility is an incorrect code. Please retry and use the Copy button.

If you are not able to solve the issue, feel free to contact us.

How do I make the embedded Google Map responsive?

The code should already be responsive, but set Width to 100%. If it still doesn’t show up full width and responsive it could be due to limits set by your theme. You may also try to set the Height to 100% by changing it manually in the code. If this still doesn’t work, send us a message.

How do I get the Map to display in a different language?

By default this code will display the Map in English. If you wish to display the Google Map on your website in a different language, first generate the embed code. Then find the part where it says hl=en and change en to a different language. If you wish to let the user browser settings determine the language displayed, remove hl=en. Some language examples:

  • English – en
  • Spanish – es
  • French – fr
  • German – de
  • Chinese (Simplified) – zh-CN
  • Chinese (Traditional) – zh-TW
  • Arabic – ar
  • Portuguese – pt
  • Russian – ru
  • Japanese – ja
  • Italian – it
  • Dutch – nl
  • Hindi – hi
  • Turkish – tr
  • Korean – ko
  • Polish – pl
  • Swedish – sv
  • Thai – th
  • Greek – el
  • Hebrew – he
